红色警戒2共和国之辉并非官方版本，它只是国内玩家制作的一款MOD版本，游戏修改自Red Alert2标准版，其最大的特点是添加了中国。

特别是经过多年的磨练，共和国版本的游戏玩家无论是在人数还是热情方面，都大大超过了官方版，很多玩家甚至认为共和国之辉就是官方所出的红警2。
